Abstract
The purpose of this study was to verify the effects of the Gestalt Relation Improvement Program on the reduction of interpersonal anxiety and the improvement of peer relationships among children who had experience of school violence. Among the students in H elementary school in Seoul, pre-survey questionnaires were used to select children who experienced school violence. Nineteen students in grades 4-5 referred by the recommendations of their teachers were randomly assigned to 10 experimental groups and 9 control groups. The program was then conducted for 45 minutes twice a week for a total of 10 sessions over a total of 5 weeks. The GRIP (Gestalt Relationship Improvement Program) is a relationship improvement program developed from the application of play and art therapy techniques based on Gestalt theory. The results of the study were as follows. First, the Gestalt Relation Improvement Program was seen to have a significant effect on reducing interpersonal anxiety amongst those elementary school students who had experienced violence in school. Second, the Gestalt Relation Improvement Program had a significant effect in improving the peer relations of those elementary school students who had experienced violence at elementary school.
